# Send a transfer request for approval

> Sends a transfer request for approval.

Use it when the request's `policy` says it needs approval (`NONE`). The business policies are evaluated again: the request becomes `PENDING_APPROVAL`, gets an approval deadline (`approvalExpiresAt`) and the approvers the policy names are asked to decide — the answer includes that approval request. Once approved, the request is confirmed automatically; if it is denied or cancelled, the request is cancelled; if the deadline passes first, it expires. The transfer itself never happens on this call.

Approval doesn't guarantee the transfer: if the bank refuses it on the automatic confirmation, the request becomes `FAILED`; if the policy's top-up of the wallet can't be done, the transfer isn't made and the request stays `PENDING_APPROVAL` until its deadline, then shows as `EXPIRED` — read the approval request in the Rule Engine API: its `executionStatus` and `executionFailReason` say why. [Business policies and approvals](https://developers.portao3.com.br/guides/policies-and-approvals.md#step-3b-send-the-payment-for-approval) explains how the approvers decide and how to follow the outcome.

A request that doesn't need approval is refused here — confirm it directly. Every required transaction custom field must have a value. The requester and organization admins can send a request for approval.

Portão 3 banking API. Every endpoint requires a bearer token in the
Authorization header (Authorization: Bearer <token>) unless its page states
otherwise; see the Authentication guide. That requirement is not repeated
